Beads and Bubble Mailers For Loop It Up Savannah

A cool way to donate to a nonprofit and repurpose beads for art and kids in Savannah

Two weeks ago, it was Mardi Gras, a time when people drunkenly beg for beads in New Orleans. Today, I am asking friends and the Internet for beads for a higher purpose. Loop It Up Savannah is an arts non-profit founded by Molly Lieberman who attended Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Loop It Up is a 501(c) 3 that creates opportunities for kids in the community to make art. In addition, there’s another initiative Handmade Neighborhood where women make jewelry. Many of the women involved in handmade neighborhood are the mothers, aunties and grandmas of the Loop It Up kids! The bead drive’s purpose is to help lower-income women to develop artisan skills in jewelry design.

What You Need To Do:

  1. Clear the clutter in your jewelry box. Find all the broken and/unwanted bracelets, earrings and necklaces.
  2. Buy a bubble mailer (6 X 10 or whatever size you prefer) at your local store or via Amazon.
  3. Address the bubble mailer before putting in the beads. The address: Loop It Up Savannah/101 N. Fahm Street/Savannah, GA 31401.
  4. Show us your beads->Instagram, Facebook or Tweet your beads with the hashtag #beadsbubs
  5. Put the beads in the bubble mailer.
  6. Take it the post office. The bead drive runs from now until April 1st.
  7. Have a glass of bubbly to toast yourself for doing good. (Optional)
  8. Sign up for updates below and you will entered to win a piece a jewelry made by Handmade Neighborhood and sponsored by Gnatty Savannah.

Thanks,

Nichelle Stephens
