A cool way to donate to a nonprofit and repurpose beads for art and kids in Savannah
Two weeks ago, it was Mardi Gras, a time when people drunkenly beg for beads in New Orleans. Today, I am asking friends and the Internet for beads for a higher purpose. Loop It Up Savannah is an arts non-profit founded by Molly Lieberman who attended Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Loop It Up is a 501(c) 3 that creates opportunities for kids in the community to make art. In addition, there’s another initiative Handmade Neighborhood where women make jewelry. Many of the women involved in handmade neighborhood are the mothers, aunties and grandmas of the Loop It Up kids! The bead drive’s purpose is to help lower-income women to develop artisan skills in jewelry design.
